Environmental Management System

  • The Environmental Management System (EMS) is a tool for defining environmental goals and objectives and establishing adequate and appropriate policies and procedures to meet environmental management system requirements, ensuring continuous environmental performance.

In 1996, ISO 14001 standard, which is the most widely accepted environmental management system standard in the world, was established and announced by ISO within the framework of international cooperation.

ISO 14001, the certification standard of the series, defines a management system that brings a systematic systematic for organisations aiming to protect the environment and minimise environmental impacts, starting from the identification of environmental impacts, how they can be reduced, and how measures can be taken for possible impacts.

An environmental management system based on the ISO 14001 Standard is a management tool that helps businesses of all types and sizes to control the environmental impact of their products, services and activities.

The purpose of the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System is to provide organisations with a systematic framework for protecting the environment and responding to changing environmental conditions in balance with socio-economic needs. ISO 14001 specifies the conditions that will enable the organisation to achieve the expected outputs of the environmental management system.

It should be noted that ISO 14001 EMS Standard is not an environmental performance standard, but an environmental management standard. ISO 14001 EMS Standard does not define performance levels and criteria, it provides the enterprise with the opportunity to determine its own performance tools and targets, taking into account the laws and requirements of the enterprise.
